News from the local radio station, from the Director, Thibaut Blond
I feel sure that many Creuse News readers will by now have heard of this new radio station in town. We started broadcasting on 96.5 Fm last December, and I have to say that launching a new radio station makes Christmas much more interesting that just unwrapping presents!"
RPG has been broadcasting since then local news programmes (three times a day), regional and national news and a wide range of quality music.
Basically, I think all your music tastes will be satisfied and much more. The best thing to do is to make up your own mind, so either tune in on 96.5 Fm or log in at www.radiopaysdegueret.fr.
Of course I advise you to listen to our regular show "Creuse Chat", every other Wednesday at 7pm, with Olivia and Julia presenting the show in English with news and guests.
Maybe one thing you didn’t know is that there was a time in Franco-English history when the radio, England and the Creuse were closely intertwined..
Pierre Maillaud who spent his childhood in the Creuse, mostly in the village of Bourg d’Hem, took the pseudonym Pierre Bourdan in memory of this village when he started broadcasting from the BBC during the 2nd World War. Pierre was already a foreign correspondent working in London when war was declared and on hearing the call to the French people from De Gaulle, it was thanks to Churchill that he was allowed to broadcast in French in 1940. His programmes became the most listened to by the French people during the war, such as ‘Ici la France’ and ‘Les Français parlent aux Français’ he constantly incited the French to find ways to beat the Germans, his voice was in every house in France. True to his convictions he joined General Leclerc with the 2nd Armoured Division and landed in Normandy, was captured by the Germans, escaped and participated in the liberation of Paris.
Certainly a Creusois hero (Guéret has named a Lycée after him) and here we have the strange twists of fate that unite England and the Creuse (and the radio of course).
